26. Working Parents and The GRE -- Can It Happen?

How Can A Working Parent Study for the GRE?

It is a challenge and requires some craftiness, but you can do it. If your child or children are young, you can set aside 30 minutes to 1 hour after everyone under 10 is asleep to work on vocabulary or review a practice test.

You may also see if there is a chunk of time you can set aside for yourself on weekends. If a dependable partner, family member, or friend is able to care for the kids for at least 3 hours, you can then spend that time taking practice tests and reviewing your work with tutors.

If your child or children have friends from your neighborhood, you can also see if a parent would be willing to set up a playtime exchange. If s/he hosts a play date on Saturday, for example, you can then host a play date on Sunday.

Because parents' time is limited, many report that they are much more productive when working on a task for a set amount of time.
