Same signs = positive product

To multiply numbers with the same sign, multiply the absolute value of the factors. The product is always positive.

To multiply numbers with different signs, multiply the absolute value of the factors. The product is always negative.

Examples

To multiply more than two numbers, multiply the first two numbers following the sign rules. Then multiply that product by the third number, following the sign rules. Then multiply by the fourth number and so on.
