Equations with Radicals


To solve equations with radicals:

1.  Isolate the radical on one side of the equation and everything else on the other side.

2.  If it is a square root, then square both sides. 

     If it is a cube root, then cube both sides, etc. ...

3.  Solve for the given variable and check your answer.

Note:  A radical with an even index such as  , cannot have a negative argument.
